Foot and ankle pain physical therapy in Las Vegas

When the first steps are the worst.

Heel pain that is sharpest in the morning and eases as you move behaves differently from pain that builds the longer you are on your feet. Foot and ankle tissue responds to load, and most of these problems come from load going up faster than capacity.

What we see most

  • Plantar heel pain, worst on the first steps of the morning
  • Achilles pain at the back of the heel, stiff at the start of a run
  • Pain across the top of the foot after increasing mileage
  • Shin pain that comes on at a predictable distance

Why it has not settled on its own

Rest lowers the symptoms and the capacity together, so pain returns at the same mileage it did before. The way out is building tolerance, which takes weeks rather than days.

What the first visit involves

We test the painful tissue directly, assess calf and foot strength with numbers you can track, and look at your footwear and recent training load. If you run, we will watch you run. You leave knowing what you can keep doing while it settles.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need orthotics?

Sometimes, as a short-term way to reduce load while tissue recovers. They work better alongside strength work than instead of it. We would rather you needed them for a season than permanently, and we will tell you which situation you are in.

  • Can I keep running with heel pain?

Often yes, at reduced volume. The rule we use is that pain should settle within 24 hours and not be worse the next morning. If it clears that bar, running is usually part of the treatment rather than a setback.
