Hip pain physical therapy in Las Vegas

What hip pain usually turns out to be
- Impingement, a pinch deep in the front of the hip at the bottom of a squat
- Labral irritation, often a catch or click with pain that lingers after
- Gluteal tendinopathy, pain on the outside of the hip, worse lying on that side
- Adductor or groin strain, sharp with cutting and sprinting
- Referred pain from the back, which can mimic all of the above

Why squatting deeper has not fixed it
If the pinch is bony contact at end range, forcing more depth makes it worse. If it is a capacity problem, loading it correctly makes it better. Those two answers point in opposite directions, which is why generic hip mobility work helps some people and sets others back.
What the first visit involves
We test the joint and the tendons separately, screen the back as a referral source, then watch you squat, hinge and step. You will usually know by the end of the session which of the three it is, and what to change in your training this week.
Book appointmentFrequently asked questions
Can I keep lifting with hip pain?
Usually yes, with changes to range, stance or load. Stopping entirely tends to make the hip less tolerant, not more. The exception is a sharp catching pain that gives way, which we assess before you load it again.
Does a labral tear mean surgery?
Not by itself. Labral changes appear on scans of plenty of people with no symptoms at all. Most people with hip pain and a labral finding do well with loading and movement change. Surgery is a conversation for the ones who do not.
